Slide Night

Hmmmm... Been a while. Well I did warn you not to expect too much as I might get bored with blogging...

Thought that I would post a few videos of Jasmine. I posted "Introducing Jasmine" a while ago on YouTube so a lot of you might have seen it already, but I put together a 5 week slideshow last night so it is fresh. I have a bunch of footage ready to cut as well so will try to get more up this week

Enjoy

Nursery Rhymes

With the countdown clock telling us that we have 44 days to go before BB pops, we have finally finished the nursery. A few posts ago I put up a vid of me pulling down the plaster. Well now it is all painted and the furniture that we had on lay-by for ages arrived on Thursday. So all excited, we built it all straight away, plus the fact that Steph has her baby shower this Sunday was the main factor behind the last minute rush. It is amazing what a deadline can do to your motivation.

The last thing we had to put together was the pram. What a blast.

Rock 'N' Roll

What is it with classic Aussie rock bands that just don't die. There seems to be a spate of 'Reunion' tours travelling the country at the moment. Not that I am complaining really, there is something about the 'old timers' that you know that you are in for a great gig. Pure Rock 'n' Roll. Oz style.

The Angels are one such band, Pure Aussie Rock. Huge in the 80's with classic hits like Shadow Boxer, Take a Long Line, Fashion and Fame, No Secrets, I Ain't The One, not to mention the unofficial Australian national Anthem - 'Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again'

footage I took at the gig

I had to drag out my old Angels Cd's leading up to the gig as I hadn't played them in a very long time. I can remember when we all got our first cars back in the early 90's and "The Dogs Are Talkin" was the song of choice to have blasting out the windows.

I went with my brother and a group of his mates. They are all pushing 40 now but I still think that we where the youngest ones in there. We were joking that they needed wheelchair access or the cloak room would be filled with walking frames.

As the last support band was booed off stage, the lights dimmed and out hobbled Doc and the boys. Doc was looking a little larger than I remember him, but man did they put on a great show. Hit after hit and as all the lyrics came flooding back to you, you couldn't help but form the Rock 'n' Roll hand sign and thrust it in the air, followed by the obligatory air guitar.

Renovating in the fast lane

Our new little digital camera has a 'Time Lapse' function in it's movie setting. I set it up as I was pulling down the rest of the plaster in what is to become the nursery.

Renovators Delight

As a lot of you would know, we have been renovating the house for a little while now. Finally we have some pics to show as it is all starting to come together. There are a few things left to do in this round of fixups, but they will be completed very soon (famous renovating Fraze).

More pics to follow as they happen

Instant Noodles

I am not sure that this is even worthy of a blog entry! But everyone at work is eating these noodles, and the word has spread. So while shopping for some lunch yesterday at the Richmond Coles, I grabbed a few to see what all the fuss was about. Let me tell you the fuss was warranted.
Maggie noodles can go and get f**ked... these are the biz.

Not surprising there is a wiki page on them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IndoMie_Mi_Goreng

and also a few fan sites... Weird !!! http://noodleson.com/review/category/indonesian-brand/indomie/

Anyway, if you see them... get some..... 8/10... pushing a 9

Give us all your money, say thankyou and then leave.

Babies / Weddings. Two events that strike fear into the bank balance of any man. Steph sent me a joke email the other day about preparing for your babies arrival and one of the points was,
"Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office"

Finally some decisions have been made and we laybuyed our big ticket items. Cot (+ accessories), Pram, Car seat, only to receive word that my brothers sister-inlaw was trying to get in touch with us to see if we wanted their cot and change table. With a discount for every tooth mark we would have saved some cash, but I think that first baby = new stuff is the way to go. I have heard that it is not until your second child that your care factor diminishes.

So now we just need a nursery to put everything into, and in the famous words from our builder "yeah I recon I could get there in about 3 weeks" "but you said that 3 weeks ago!!"

Babysitting Blindside

Ring Ring.... Ring Ring..... Ring Ring......
"Hello"
"Jock. It's Dan, How are ya?"
"Yeah good.... What goin on?"
"Not much. Hey was just wondering what you guys where upto tonight?"
"Um not much, hang on I'll check with the boss............. Nar Nothing. What did you have in mind? Pub? Dinner?"
"Well actually Sal and I are going out tonight and we need a babysitter!!!!!"
Hmmmmmm... Babysitter Blindsided.
Mads and Holly arrived at about 6. The night was planned. We would make pizzas, base included.
play some Wii, watch a movie, have dessert and then off to bed.

and hopefully all in time for me to sit down on the couch with a beer and watch the football. Well you can guess the only item on the list that didn't happen.
The girls are always on perfect behaviour when they are over and it is a pleasure to look after them, until 7am when they come and jump on our bed.
Suppose we are in training for the real thing. Can't hand them back in the morning when that happens.

Big Fat Greek Wedding

Recipe for a good Greek wedding :-

Grab 400 of your closest family (and a few friends), book out the biggest room in town, put a bottle of scotch on every table and play the Zorba as loud as possible all night long.

And that is pretty much how it went. S (the wife) is part of a massive Greek family and so we get our fair share of large events that we attend. D&A's wedding was very Greek, from doing the whole crown swapping thing, eating the bread, not knowing what the priest was saying to a set of speeches that lasted for hours.

It was a great night had by all and as usual... I might have drank a little too much.

Fav Greek quote - "What is it with wogs and cash" (The Castle)

Start from the start.

A Really good friend of mine spends all day on the net. He has signed up for every social interaction site that he can find. Then he proceeds to show me and the usual question is "so when are you getting a "Blah Blah" account?
I have tried most of them but my interest lasts about a week and then I don't update, forget my log in, CBF, etc. etc. etc.
Then last night he showed me thru his blog. I have know about blogs for ages but never saw the benefit in setting one up as I don't really have all that much to say. But as it was explained to me, it is not that you don't have anything to say, it is "when" you have something to say you can say it, and also in a way that you want it to be heard.
So here it is... My Blog.... Like the tag line says "don't expect too much, cos this probably wont last!
